The Vermio hone is a natural whetstone originated in the mountains Vermio in Greek Macedonia. The base material is slate like the Thuringian waterhones. Its fine abrasive abilities have been recently discovered by a local sharpener and razor enthusiast.
The hone is used for finishing and endfinishing of straight razors. In comparison to the Thuringian water whetstones they are harder but also a little finer than the medium light green Thuringian quality. In our experience, the razor edge becomes a little more sharp and crisp, but still smooth. The endfinishing with oil or glycerine generates an especially fine edge.
Also very well suitably for sharpening fine instruments and tools.
All stones are hand-mined and hand-worked.
